Introduction

Cruising along the calm waters of the Irrawaddy River is the best way to experience Myanmar. It will be a journey through the beautiful countryside and explore its enchanting cities. Your adventure starts in Yangon a vibrant and busy city. It is filled with lively street markets and the grand old buildings of the colonial era. Then travel to Prome where you travel around the outskirts of town, stopping off at a vibrant market en route. It’s then time to board the RV Paukan River Cruise, from where you will enjoy the journey to Bagan. 

You will enjoy your private balcony with stunning river views. You will experience first-class hospitality on board and the most relaxing of journeys. Also, you will enjoy sublime views of the countryside as you navigate this iconic waterway. You can stop off to explore hidden temples and ancient cities. You will also get a glimpse into traditional Burmese life. Your cruise ends in the best magical city of Bagan, Myanmar, from where you’ll take a short flight to Yangon for your final nights.

Day 1Arrival Yangon

Arrive at Yangon International Airport and welcome by our tour-speaking guide. Transfer to hotel for check-in. The tour sightseeing start for visit to the world-famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Witness the golden dome light up sunshine at the sunset.

Overnight in Yangon.

Day 2 Yangon – Join 3 Nights River Cruise Prome (Embarkation) (B/L/D)

Guests will enjoy a scenic drive from Yangon to Prome. Pick up point is at Sule Shangrila Hotel Yangon.

TRANSFER: Transfer from the hotel in Yangon to Prome will be provided. Pls, take note that it takes approximately 7 hrs to drive from Yangon to Prome (7:00 AM – 2:00 PM).

AFTERNOON EXCURSION: Prome and Sri Ksetra

Once controlled by the Mon tribe during the Bagan Era, and then conquered by the Burmese King Alaungpaya in 1754. Prime (known as Pyay to the locals) boomed along with the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company in the 1890s. And is now an important trading post for goods traveling between northern and southern Myanmar. This afternoon we drive to Thayekhittaya (also known as Sri Ksetra, the “Fabulous City” in the Pali language), an ancient Pyu city that ruled in this area between the 5th and the 9th centuries. We visit the well-documented Sri Ksetra Museum, full of excellent maps and artifacts including Hindu deities, Buddha images from as far back as the 6th century, Pyu beads, and silver coins.

Day 3Thayet Myo (B/L/D)

MORNING: Enjoy sailing the whole morning with the BBC Documentary “The Life of the Buddha”

AFTERNOON EXCURSION: Thayet Myo

This afternoon we put you on Tuk-Tuk to visit the charming town of Thayet Myo, stopping at the oldest golf course in Myanmar with a fascinating history (guests may hit from the first tee). We then visit the local market, passing colonial homes constructed during the British colonization of Burma before returning to the ship for an afternoon of scenic cruising.

Day 4Magwe (B/L/D)

MORNING: Enjoy sailing the whole morning with Longi and Thanakha Demonstration.

AFTERNOON EXCURSION: Magwe by Trishaw

This afternoon we venture out into the district capitol city of Magwe aboard Trishaws (three-wheeled bicycles where one person sits alongside the driver). A short walk takes us to the local market. After some time to explore and shop at the market, we board our trishaws for a ride through the city to visit Mya Tha Lun pagoda. Mya Tha Lun is a beautifully gilded stupa set atop Naguttama Hill which offers a wonderful view of the river and surrounding area.

ENTERTAINMENT: Longyi and Thanaka Demonstration (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM)

Day 5Salay (Disembarkation) – Bagan

After your breakfast, enjoy sailing until late morning and disembarkation at Salay. (11:30AM – 12:00NOON).Transfer to Salay House for Lunch. 

AFTERNOON EXCURSION:  Salay Walking Tour 

This afternoon we walk ashore at Salay. It’s a small town founded in the 13th century with Bagan-era shrines. You will see beautiful 19th-century teak monasteries and preserved British colonial buildings. We also explore the Salay House. It’s a restored 1906 colonial trading company warehouse on the bank of the Irrawaddy. Our walk takes us along the town’s main Strand Street towards the local market. Before turning away from the river you can also visit the beautiful Yoke Soun Kyaung Taw Gyi wooden monastery. This ornately carved teak monastery was designed as a copy of the Crown Prince House of Mandalay and is now a museum boasting remarkable wood carvings and artifacts. We pass some interesting Bagan-era monuments on our way to visit Mann Paya, a pagoda with a beautiful lacquerware Buddha, before returning to our ship with a stroll past some of Salay’s many beautiful colonial buildings.

TRANSFER: The client will be transferred to Bagan Hotel by coach around 4:00 PM. Please, take note that it takes approximately 2 hrs drive to transfer from Salay to the hotel in Bagan.

Day 6Bagan Sightseeing – Yangon

Breakfast at the hotel, the tour visit to one of Asia’s most popular archeological destinations. We will visit the colorful Naung U Market and visit someBagan’sagan most famous pagodas, including Shwezigon Pagoda, which is the best reliquary shrine and houses images of 37 Nats in Bagan, Myanmar. Then, continue visit to Kyansittha Uhmin (Cave), Gupaukgyi Temple, it is a 13th-centuryth century cave temple with interesting fine frescoes of sconces from Jataka.

In the afternoon, the tour continues to visit Htilominlo Temple with its old murals and Fri, sizes and then approach Tharabar Gate way into Old Bagan. Then, visit Ananda Temple which is a whitewashed masterpiece and with four standing Buddha Images, Thetbyinnyu Temple, Dhamayangyi Temple which is famous for its interlocking mortar thickest brickwork. Late afternoon, continue to Shwesandaw Pagoda for a beautiful sunset and then transfer to Bagan airport to fly back to Yangon.

Overnight in Yangon. 

Day 7Yangon - Twante - Cbt Site

Today morning, drive to Tawnte for about one hour to enjoy the countryside side scenery. First, we will stop to visit the colorful Tawnte market. After that visit a traditional pottery workshop. You can also take part in working with clay by hand and making some fun with your creativity.

Then, we will proceed to drive to the village of Kyaik Tha Le to visit Mingalar Bio Garden CBT site.  we will walk around the village or cycle to enjoy a real taste of rural Myanmar along the way. And we have a chance to get experience for Cooking class, Home Sewing. We can also visit the Bamboo Basket Home industry and meet friendly locals and observe their daily lifestyle. Enjoy Lunch in traditional Burmese style at Mingalar Bio Garden.  

Late afternoon, return to Yangon by road through villages, rice paddies, and river landscape.

Day 8Yangon Departure

FAQ

Any policies are in place for children?

The rate for children applicable for child sharing a room or cabin with two adults:

  • For infant (<02 years old): FOC except domestic ticket cost.
  • 02 – 11 years old: 85% adult rate.
  • Child from 12 years old and above will pay as adult.

All tickets: Based on each airlines policy, the price for children will be applied at time of booking.

What are the typical steps in the payment process?

Deposit: In order to secure your spot for the tour, an amount 10% of land service are required to pay (the amount vary based each on tour basis). The amount should be made via bank transfer or our online payment method. After receiving the deposit of your tour, a voucher confirmation will be sent to you within 24-48 hours. Some airfares or services must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Final payment: The balance of your tour will be made one month before the travel date. Payment by bank transfer or online payment is accepted.

I'm a solo traveller, is there a single supplement?

All prices are based on per adult, in Double/Twin sharing

Will be there any alterations of the itinerary?

Alterations to your itinerary before the booking is processed are happily processed free of charge. We want to provide the best tour possible for you.

Alterations, after you have received your booking confirmation letter, will attract a fee of $10 USD per request.

Vietnam Tour Fun reserves the right to modify the itinerary of the tour if air schedule or surface transportation changes, and/or events beyond its control make such alteration necessary.

In this event, any of the increase or reduction of the tour cost will be calculated and charged accordingly.

If the tour is to be changed at the request of the client(s), the client will be required to pay any additional cost in advance.

What are the cancellation policies and how can I change mine?

We would deeply regret your decision to cancel your trip to Vietnam & Indochina; however, we realize that there are many reasons for this event.
In the event of cancellation, we will refund any payment made to Vietnam Tour Fun given that a cancellation fee is applicable.

The cancellation fee will be calculated as follows:

  • 31 days and more before departure: 10% of the full payment + airfare cancellation fees (if any).
  • 15-30 days before departure: 30% of the full payment + airfare cancellation fees (if any).
  • 14 days and less before departure: 100% of the full payment.
  • No-show travelers will be charged 100% of the full payment.

After the trip has commenced, we are unable to refund any amount for unused services due to your early departure, late arrival, or missed days on tours.
